Debt Repayment
People read the name of this query in two ways, so let's be clear from the start: "debt repayment" means you are paying back your own debt. If you want to get back money you lent to someone, use the "debt collection" query instead.
In Chinese tradition, getting rid of a debt is more than a financial transaction. It "closes" an obligation and lifts a burden. A favourable day helps you part with a debt for good, without new obligations, calculation errors or disputes. On an unfavourable day the debt may "come back" in the form of extra payments or penalties, or a need to borrow again.
What the query covers:
- paying off a loan, a credit line or a credit card;
- early mortgage repayment or the final payment;
- returning money borrowed from friends or family;
- closing an instalment plan;
- clearing tax or other arrears;
- in a broader sense, fulfilling an old obligation, returning other people's things, "tying up loose ends".
When to use a different query:
- demanding that a debt be repaid to you, or negotiating with a debtor: "debt collection";
- lending money to someone: "lending money to someone";
- applying for a new loan: "applying for a loan, investment";
- closing a bank account after repayment: "withdrawing money from an account, closing an account";
- splitting shared money: "money sharing".
How the Calendar rates the day. For debt repayment the favourable Day Officers are Balance, Collect, Establish and Remove. Full is unfavourable. Remove and Collect mean that you "remove" the debt and "collect" yourself anew, free of the burden. Interestingly, the Separating Day, which is bad for dates and deals, is favourable for repaying a debt: it helps you "separate" from the obligation. The Noble Man helps as well. The day is weakened by Robbery Sha, the No Wealth Day and a Clash of Heavenly Stems.
Tip. If you are paying off a large loan in instalments, choose a lucky day at least for the last, closing payment. With the Personal Calendar connected, your Bazi chart is taken into account, including your Personal Robbery Sha.
