What Does "Planting" Mean in the Feng Shui Fortune Calendar?

Загрузка...

The Chinese calendar grew out of an agricultural one: for thousands of years it set the times for sowing and planting. So "planting" is one of the most "ancient" queries in the Feng Shui Fortune Calendar. A plant put in the ground on a lucky day is believed to take root better, grow stronger and bear fruit.

This query has a special logic. A plant needs to take root and stay in place, so days that "fill" and "hold" are good, while days that "open" and "remove" are unfavourable.

What the query covers:

  • sowing seeds outdoors and for seedlings;
  • planting seedlings, saplings, trees and shrubs;
  • planting flowers and bulbs;
  • repotting houseplants;
  • laying out a new garden, vegetable plot or flower bed;
  • grafting and taking cuttings.

When to use a different query:

  • digging, making holes or drainage on a plot: "earthwork";
  • laying the foundation of a house: "foundation laying";
  • clearing the garden or removing rubbish: "cleaning, laundry" or "throwing away old things";
  • harvesting: "receiving rewards".

How the Calendar rates the day. For planting the favourable Day Officers are Full, Control, Balance and Stable. The unfavourable ones are Close, Danger, Open, Establish and Remove. Among the lunar mansions, Winnowing Basket, House, Willow, Dipper, Well, Orion, Horn and Tail are good, while Root, Danger and Neck are unfavourable. The Extinction Day is unfavourable: on such a day a plant has little life force. Interestingly, several stars that are bad for relationships are favourable for planting: the Star of Loneliness, the Clash of Personality and the Clashes of the Houses of Marriage, Children and Parents. A plant does not need relationships; it needs to take root in peace.

Tip. Take the planting times for your climate into account as well: the Feng Shui Fortune Calendar helps you choose a day within the right season, but it does not replace gardening advice. For a tree planted "for generations", choosing a lucky day is especially worthwhile.
