Short Trips
"Short trips" is the third of the travel queries in the Chinese Fortune Calendar. "Beginning of the journey" is for leaving for a long time, and "water and air trips" rates a flight or a crossing. Short trips are for nearby, brief outings: there and back within a day or two.
In Chinese tradition even a short road means leaving the protection of home. A good day helps you get there without delays, do what you went for and come back safely. On an unfavourable day there is a higher risk of traffic jams, breakdowns, losses and wasted time.

What the query covers:
- a business trip to a nearby town;
- a one-day business trip or visit;
- a weekend visit to relatives or friends;
- a day excursion, a trip to the countryside or to a summer house;
- a short drive;
- in a broader sense, any outing after which you soon return home.
When to use a different query:
- a holiday, a long business trip or leaving to study: "beginning of the journey";
- a flight or a trip by water: "water and air trips";
- the first drive in a new car: "starting traffic on a new vehicle";
- visiting someone in your own town: "meeting with friends, going on a visit".
How the Calendar rates the day. For short trips the favourable Day Officer is Establish. Among the lunar mansions, Orion and Heart are good. The day is supported by the Travelling Horse and the Noble Man. It is weakened by the Death Angel, Robbery Sha (including Month and Personal Robbery Sha), Year Sha, Month Sha and Personal Year Sha. As with flights, the main thing here is to avoid the negative "road" stars, above all Robbery Sha, which is linked to losses on the way.

Tip. For a short trip an auspicious departure hour is especially useful: if the day is neutral, a lucky hour noticeably improves the journey. Personal Robbery Sha is calculated from your Bazi chart, so connect your Personal Calendar.
