In Chinese tradition, moving house is one of the most important events for which a date is chosen. The day you enter a new home is believed to determine what that home will be for you: whether it brings health, prosperity and family harmony or becomes a source of trouble. That is why in China people often "move in" symbolically on a lucky day and bring their belongings later.

What the query covers:
- moving into a new flat or house, including rented ones;
- relocating permanently to another city or country;
- moving an office, a shop or a company to new premises;
- the first night in a new home;
- a housewarming;
- returning home after a long absence or a major renovation.

If you cannot move your belongings on a lucky day, make a symbolic move-in: on a favourable day and hour, bring something valuable and symbolic into the new home, such as rice, water, money or a lamp, and spend a little time there.
