The Master Killing Day
The Master Killing Day(杀师日 Sha shi zhi). This formula for choosing dates was given by Master Yang Jun Sun, a great master of Dili (the Form or Landform school of Feng Shui) who lived at the end of the Tang Dynasty, so it is often called: 楊公煞 Yang Gong Sha. When the Tang Dynasty ended its reign, Master Yang began to help improve feng shui for ordinary people. Out of gratitude and respect for his work for the benefit of the people, he became known as the ‘Master who saves the poor’. Subsequently, other feng shui masters recognised him as the Grand Master of Feng Shui.
Each year has 13 Master Killing Days. They are also called Lo-hou days (罗侯日 Lo-hou zhi). Lo-hou is one of the ‘killing stars’, coming from Indian astrology, where it is called the ‘Rahu planet’. Rahu is considered a ‘shadow planet’, meaning that it does not exist in reality. In astronomy, the planet Rahu is the so-called ‘north lunar node’. Simply put, Rahu or Lo-hou is the point in the sky where the Sun's trajectory intersects with the Moon's trajectory as it moves from north to south.

Unlike most other days and stars in the date selection system, the calculation of the Master Killing Days is done on the lunar calendar, not the solar calendar. Therefore, here we do not use the Earthly branches (animals) of the solar months, but only the lunar month numbers as they are labelled in the Chinese solar-lunar calendar. When an inset lunar month comes, the Master Killing Day simply repeats. For example, if there are two 6 lunar months in a year, a regular and an inset lunar month, the 3rd day of each would be the Master Killing Day.

In the table above, we see that the Master Killing Days are spaced about 27 days apart. Master Yang left no explanation as to how these days are calculated. But we can assume that their origin is connected with the fact that the Moon just enters on such a day at the point of Lo-hou. After all, according to modern astronomy, the ‘draconic month’, that is, the time interval between two passes of the Moon through the lunar node, is just 27.2122204 days.
On the Master Killing Days, practitioners prefer not to use a Luopan compass, as it is believed that on these days its readings, as well as any other measurements made for feng shui purposes, will be incorrect.

In addition, the name of the day itself suggests that trouble and problems will arise for the Feng Shui practitioner, the Master. Therefore, some masters, if they are forced to work on such a day, for example, because of a client's insistent request, protect themselves by asking clients and everyone else not to call them ‘master’ on that day. Since there is no master, no ‘murder’ can be directed at them.
It is not worthwhile to carry out any other actions related to Feng Shui on such a day, including consultations, their result will be different from the desired. In addition, the day is unfavorable for weddings, grand openings. These days are also not good for moving to another house, because on this day we should not use the Luopan.
