The concept of the Days of Lost Time (四废日) is rooted in traditional Chinese culture and is associated with specific days during the four seasons. To find these days on your own, you need to know the Chinese calendar. You can also use our Fortune Calendar,, which will help you calculate these days for any month. Let's figure out what these days mean:

1. Spring Days of Lost Time

These are the days of Geng Shen (庚申) and Yin You (辛酉) - two spring days that belong to the category of "True Time Wasting". In spring, the dominant element is Wood, and Metal is considered inactive or "lost". The pairs of Geng Shen and Yin You belong to the Metal element, which makes their energy at this time of year exceptionally weak.

Install the "Feng Shui Fortune Calendar" app and choose auspicious days for any task right from your smartphone.

2. Summer Days of Lost Time:

In summer, the dominant element is Fire, and Water is considered inactive. In summer, the two days of Lost Time are Ren Zi (壬子) and Gui Hai (癸亥). These days have very low energy due to their connection with the Water element.

3. Autumn Days of Lost Time:

In Autumn, the dominant element is Metal, while Wood is considered inactive. The two Autumn Days of Lost Time are Jia Yin (甲寅) and Yi Mao (乙卯). In Autumn, these days have weak energy due to their connection with the Wood element.

4. Winter Days of Lost Time

Winter is characterized by the dominance of Water, while Fire is considered inactive. The two Winter Days of Lost Time are Bing Wu (丙午) and Ding Si (丁巳). These days have minimal energy due to their connection with the Fire element.

According to the Classic of Master Dong (董公擇日 Dong gong jie zhi), these eight days are divided into two parts: "the Four Losses" (四廢 Si fei, and the four "Days of True time Wasting" (正四廢 Zhen si fei). These sets of four are similar to each other, but yet different. The Classic of Master Dong describes how to find both sets of days. The Days of Lost Time (四廢 Si fei) are the four Yang days, with one such day in each of the four seasons of the Chinese calendar. And the Days of True time Wasting (正四廢 Zhen Si Fei) are the Yin days in these seasons
